About

Helen Citrin

Hi! My name is Helen Citrin. I have a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and am a Marriage and Family Therapist. My experience spans working in private practice, nonprofit organizations, and public schools. Each of these settings has provided me with a unique perspective on how to support individuals from different walks of life.

Throughout my career, I have worked with clients ranging from as young as three years old to adults in their seventies. While every client is shaped by their own lived experiences, I began noticing a common theme in my sessions: the impact of daily habits on mental well-being and the healing journey.

After working with high school students for two years, I observed firsthand how their mood, focus, and overall well-being were closely tied to how they moved and nourished their bodies. I often had students come into my office overwhelmed, and when I asked what they needed, they frequently requested a snack or a walk, or even a place to rest. I realized that meeting their basic needs—balancing blood sugar, getting enough sleep, and engaging in movement—was critical to their emotional and mental health. This realization led me to a deeper interest in habit-building and wellness, ultimately inspiring me to pursue health and life coaching.

I first earned a bachelor’s degree in Communication from the University of Colorado, Boulder, in 2020, where I explored how communication shapes relationships. I continued my studies at the University of San Francisco, earning my master’s degree in Counseling Psychology in 2023 and beginning my career as a Marriage and Family Therapist. In 2022, I started my clinical training at a nonprofit organization, where I had the privilege of supporting individuals through life’s challenges and transitions.

After several years in the therapy world, I felt called to expand my work—to bridge the gap between emotional healing and everyday wellness. In 2025, I became a Certified Health and Life Coach through the Health Coach Institute, allowing me to help individuals not only process their past but also take meaningful, actionable steps toward a healthier and more fulfilling future.
